Diode laser, not IPL

Many salons offer IPL and call it laser. It is not the same. Somulus uses a medical diode laser: a focused beam that targets the hair root itself, for smoother skin in fewer sessions.

What is a diode laser?

One focused wavelength

The laser sends a single, precise wavelength of light (typically around 808 nm) that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair.

Heat goes to the root

The light travels down the hair to the follicle and heats it, so that root stops producing new hair. The skin around it is left alone.

Cooling while you are treated

A cooled tip protects the skin during every pulse, which keeps the treatment comfortable and safe.

Why a series of sessions? Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only reaches hair that is actively growing. Most clients come back every 4–6 weeks until the area stays smooth.
